Wayanad Heritage : Biocultural Pride of Kerala

The  making of a Heritage Museum in Wayanad- an amalgamation of historical heritage and pristine beauty of nature- under the envisage of Department of Museum and Zoos, Kerala is at its final phase. The project is being executed by Keralam Museum. Museum has three zones with fifteen pavillions. Besides two tribal houses representing the tribal life in Wayanad, the museum has an activity zone as well. Wayanad Heritage Museum, which also makes use of the service of tribal artists, will undoubtedly be the exponent of the district's landscape, history, culture, fights and strong tribal lives.

The first zone in the museum displays the biocultural diversity of Wayanad. Museum gives intrinsic details of Wayanad's diverse flora and fauna, natural resources, tribal communities and historical facts. The second zone which is exclusively dedicated to the display of tribal heritage gives the descriptions of life habits and traditional practices of tribal communities in Wayanad through different mediums. The third zone which is given the title 'The Rhythm of Nature' delineates the survival, livelihood and practice of medicine of the tribal communities.
